The final household price with VAT

The exchange price is the electricity alone. A household bill adds the ESO distribution (network) price, the PSO levy with the supplementary component, and 21 % VAT. On the “Standartinis (standard), two time zones” plan, the exchange price of 22 October 2026 works out at 18.3 ct/kWh.

ct/kWh
Exchange price (electricity) 6.05
ESO distribution price 9.10
PSO levy and supplementary component −0.02
VAT 21 % 3.18
Final price 18.31

Not included: the supplier’s margin (no supplier publishes one we could read, so none is assumed here) and the monthly fees, which are paid whatever the consumption.

On two-zone plans the night hours are cheaper, so a day’s or a month’s final price is worked out from how many of its hours billed at night (all day at weekends).

The ESO and VERT tariffs are in force until 2026-12-31; sources in the home charging comparison.

What does this price mean?

This is the Nord Pool day-ahead exchange price in the Lithuanian bidding zone — the wholesale electricity price excluding VAT, transmission and distribution fees and the supplier’s margin. A household bill will show a higher price per kWh, but on exchange-linked plans it moves with the hourly prices shown here.

For an EV owner the exchange price matters in two cases: charging at home on an hourly tariff (the cheapest hours are in the chart above) and seeing how much public charging networks add on top of it — see the cheapest charging ranking, the charging price history and the charging cost calculator.

What a kWh at home costs with all network fees and VAT, and whether that beats a public charger, is worked out in the home vs public charging comparison (in Lithuanian).

Since October 2025 the exchange has traded in 15-minute intervals; the charts combine them into hourly and daily averages.

Source: Nord Pool day-ahead auction prices for the Lithuanian zone, retrieved via the Elering AS open API. Prices in EUR/MWh excl. VAT; 1 ct/kWh = €10/MWh. Updated daily.

Frequently asked questions

When are tomorrow’s electricity prices published? ▾

Nord Pool publishes the day-ahead auction prices for the Lithuanian zone every day at about 14:00 Lithuanian time. On this page they are updated at about 15:30 — tomorrow’s hourly chart and table have a page of their own at /en/electricity-price/tomorrow.

Does the price include VAT? ▾

Not by default: this is the wholesale Nord Pool exchange price excluding VAT, transmission and distribution fees and the supplier’s margin. Switching to “Final (incl. VAT)” adds the selected ESO plan’s distribution price, the PSO levy with the supplementary component and 21 % VAT — what a household pays per kWh, excluding the supplier’s margin and the monthly fees.

How is ct/kWh calculated? ▾

The exchange publishes prices in euros per megawatt-hour (€/MWh). 1 MWh = 1,000 kWh, so dividing a €/MWh price by 10 gives ct/kWh: €100/MWh = 10 ct/kWh. Since October 2025 trading has been in 15-minute intervals — an hour’s price is the average of that hour’s intervals, and a day’s price the average of all its intervals.
