Where is EV charging cheapest in Lithuania?

What public charging costs in Lithuania depends above all on the type of current and the power. Slow AC chargers (up to 22 kW) are the cheapest but take hours to fill a battery. Fast DC chargers (up to 150 kW) and ultra-fast HPC chargers (150 kW and above) do it in 20–40 minutes, but charge more per kilowatt-hour, and some operators price HPC separately. That is why this page ranks AC, DC and HPC networks separately — anything else would be an unfair comparison.

What to look out for besides the price per kWh

  • Time fee — some operators charge per hour for the whole session.
  • Parking (idle) fee — starts once charging has finished, so the charger is not blocked.
  • Session fee — a fixed amount per charge; on a small top-up it can cost more than the electricity itself.
  • Network app or subscription — some operators give members a lower rate than the public one. The subscription comparison (in Lithuanian) shows how many kWh a month it takes for one to pay off.

Networks with a time or session fee are flagged in the tables. You can work out the cost of a specific trip in the charging cost calculator, and find chargers on your way on the route planner.

Charging at home? The home vs public charging comparison (in Lithuanian) shows whether home or public charging is cheaper at today's exchange price and network fees.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to charge an EV at a public charger in Lithuania? ▾

Typical prices per kWh including VAT at the moment: AC €0.30/kWh, DC €0.36/kWh, HPC €0.387/kWh. Adding 36 kWh (a 60 kWh battery from 20% to 80%) would cost AC about €10.80, DC about €12.96, HPC about €13.93. Some networks also charge a time, parking or session fee.

Why is DC charging dearer than AC? ▾

A fast direct-current (DC) charger costs several times as much as an AC one: a powerful converter and cooling, a high-capacity grid connection with capacity charges, and more expensive maintenance. The operator recovers that through the price per kWh, and you pay for the time saved: DC charges a car in 20–40 minutes, AC takes hours. Right now the typical DC price (€0.36/kWh) is 20% higher than AC (€0.30/kWh).

How much does 100 km cost? ▾

A Volkswagen ID.3 Pro uses 16.6 kWh/100 km on average, so at typical prices 100 km costs AC about €4.98, DC about €5.98, HPC about €6.42. That is consumption multiplied by the price per kWh. Real-world consumption is higher in winter: according to research by the US company Recurrent, EVs keep about 78% of their usual range at around 0 °C. Work it out for your own car in the calculator.

Where is the cheapest EV charging in Lithuania? ▾

The cheapest public AC charging (up to 22 kW) in Lithuania currently starts at €0.082/kWh including VAT, the cheapest fast DC charging (up to 150 kW) at €0.175/kWh, and the cheapest ultra-fast HPC charging (150 kW and above) at €0.180/kWh. Prices by network are in the tables on this page. Charging at home on a household tariff is always cheapest — public chargers are for convenience and travel.

Why are AC, DC and HPC prices shown separately? ▾

Fast DC charging costs more than slow AC, and some operators price ultra-fast HPC (150 kW and above) separately: Ignitis ON, for example, has separate prices up to 44 kW, 45–149 kW and from 150 kW. They are different services, so a single list would mislead: every slow city charger would rank above the fast motorway ones. We assign each price to the class the connector actually charges at.

Is the price per kWh the whole cost? ▾

Not always. The price per kWh is the main part, but some operators also charge for charging time (per hour), for parking after charging has finished, or a fixed session fee. We flag those networks in the tables, and every component of a station’s tariff is on its station page.

Are there free public charging stations in Lithuania? ▾

We only count a station as free when its tariff in the data feed explicitly states €0/kWh. Many tariffs only state a “€0 session fee” without any price per kWh — we do not count those as free, because that would be a false promise. Any free stations in the feed are listed separately on this page.

How often are prices updated? ▾

Prices and station status are refreshed several times a day from the official Via Lietuva open data feed, where every operator of public charging points in Lithuania is required to publish.
